There are various ways to communicate with a student and with an instructor. Within Moodle, the private way to send messages is by sending them directly to the person, which allows for closer communication within the educational environment.
It is important to keep in mind that if you delete a conversation, it is removed only for you and remains in the other person’s message inbox. In addition, each message sent generates a notification in the recipient’s email.
Recommendations:
- Do not send information that you do not want to share.
- Be respectful at all times.
- Remember that even though it is a private message, it is part of an institutional and educational context.
- Write clear and appropriate messages before sending them.
If you are a student:
- Go to Participants in the course.
- Choose the name of the person you want to contact.
- Next to the name, click the message icon.
- This will open a text box.
- Write your message and click Send.
If you are an instructor:
- Go to Participants in the course.
- Select the student you want to message and click the message icon next to their name.
- Write your message in the text box and send it.
To send messages to multiple students at the same time:
- Go to Participants.
- Select the students you want to contact.
- At the bottom, open the “With selected users…” menu.
- Choose the messaging option.
- Write your message and send it.
